The Kanter 57 was designed as a no-nonsense ocean-voyager that can safely take you and your whole family anywhere in the world, from Nova Scotia to the Caribbean, from the Mediterranean to the South Pacific. No matter the destination or weather conditions, the Kanter 57 will get you there in safety, style and comfort.
The rugged, yet refined construction of this no-nonsense ocean voyager combines both the elegance of a cruising yacht with the safety and strength of an offshore rescue boat. In keeping with the Kanter tradition of elegance and attention to detail the Kanter 57 sets a new standard in dependability and safety.
Designed by noted yacht and commercial vessel designer David Gerr, the Kanter 57 is rivalled in strength and stability only by the Kanter 45, as her welded-steel hull exceeds both Lloyds and ABS specifications. Structurally stronger than any fibreglass hull for any serious cruiser.
The Kanter 57's hull, decks and cabin sides are longitudinally framed for maximum strength and the fairest possible hull surface. The hull design is a modified vee-bottom with a chine flat that widens as it passes through the last eight feet of hull bottom where planing occurs. At the transom, the dead rise is a shallow seven degrees and at the bow, a deep 65 degrees. To ensure exceptional performance, virtually all of the twist has been eliminated in the aft sections through the extensive engineering and modeling of modified vees.
The Kanter 57 has a top speed of nearly 11 knots with a single diesel engine: the commercial-duty Caterpillar 3306B, which generates 290 hp. With only routine care, it will last as long as the hull. Normal coastwise cruising speed would be around 1,800 rpm at 8.2 knots, with a range of over 2,637 nautical miles. Slowing down at 5.8 Knots it reach her maximun range 5,708 miles a true transoceanic range.
The Kanter 57' cockpit is well covered and roomy, wrapping around to the side decks, with a transom door leading to the swimming platform. An aft-facing settee offers comfortable lounging, while a full overhanging roof over the cockpit and the aft third of the side decks offers maximum protection from the weather. The Kanter 57 also boasts deep, sturdy bulwarks all around to provide further protection from even the roughest weather.
The master stateroomis in the starboar side with en-suite full head. has a bow state-room as a guest and a small third state-room in port side. The Kanter 57 also features a large main salon with dining table for confortable 6 person and it can be converted in a double-bed.
Upstairs, the wheelhouse features a navigation and instrument flat that is truly immense. There is ample room for all the charts and instruments you could ever need and a full-size pilot berth aft of the seats to port. To starboard, there are companion stairs that lead up and aft onto the main cabin roof deck which is ideal for sunbathing or just enjoying the fresh ocean air.
Of course, there is also a full wrap-around Portuguese bridge, which not only protects the wheelhouse from the worst seas, but makes a delightful area to take in the sights. A remote joystick autopilot and throttle control make conning the Kanter 57 from the Portuguese bridge effortless.
No matter where your travels take you, the Kanter 57 has the world-class performance, safety, comfort and style you deserve.
